LAKE VIEWS - MAY 31, 2018
A publication of Lakeview Estates Homes Association

From the Board:

School is out and summer is here!  We hope you noticed the work completed in the pool area before opening on May 18!  Our updated cabana exterior looks great, a crumbling piece of the back pool deck was replaced, dead trees removed from the fence line, new playground mulch, and flowers planted - all for your enjoyment of our most popular neighborhood amenity.  Please thank Andrea Harts, our Recreational Facilities Committee Chair, for her work in finding contractors and coordinating with the board to get it all done!  We are also adding pickleball lines to the tennis court and replacing the net there today in hopes that many more residents will enjoy our facilities.

Pool Keys:  If you still have not picked up your new pool/dock key, please contact Andrea by email at:  An adult from your household will have to sign for the key.  By signing out a key, you are agreeing to abide by the rules for all Lakeview recreational facilities.  The rec facilities rules are posted here:  We've already had problems with glass bottles inside the pool enclosure!  NO GLASS ALLOWED!  This is not a request; it's the law!

Social:  As of last week's board meeting, we have a new Social Committee chair, new resident Laura Hefte.  She is in the process of planning some fun social events for 2018.  Here's a message from Laura:
If you haven’t joined our Facebook page yet, PLEASE do. As most of our social planning and event announcements will be posted here. Request to join here:    This is a private group, meaning ONLY Lakeview Estates members can view or comment on the posts. Not only is it a great way to stay connected with your fellow residents but an amazing resource when needing recommendations, forming book clubs, walking groups, etc., and seeing what’s happening in the neighborhood.
For those of you who don’t use Facebook, PLEASE make sure the HOA has an updated email address for you so you can receive information about these upcoming events.
If you would like to help plan and/or be a part of this fun committee in any way, I can promise you it is a very minimal time commitment. Time to get off the sidelines! The more help we get, the more activities we can plan and fun we can have! We want to make sure you ALL feel welcome to be a part of the planning! Feel free to contact (

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday celebrations!  The board is ready to get back to work this month.  Our first meeting will be Tuesday, January 23, 6:30 p.m., at Broken Arrow.  We met after the December 4th annual meeting to elect 2018 officers so that we can get right down to business.  Your 2018 officers are:

President - Mark Hoelting
1st VP - Tony Mendez
Secretary - Mike Sell
Treasurer - Nancy Austin
2nd VP - Rick Beebe
3rd VP - John Seay

Thanks to all who have paid their 2018 dues!  If you haven't already done so, mail your check for $615.00 to Lakeview Estates Homes Association, 14300 W. 56th Place, Shawnee 66216.  Late fees of $25 per month apply to dues received on and after February 1.

New this year is the option to pay your dues by credit card.  Payments will be processed through PayPal, but a PayPal account is NOT required; simply click on "Pay by debit or credit card" when the log-in screen appears.  There is a $20 convenience fee added for a total payment of $635.00 (through January 30).  Click here to access the PayPal link:

As many of you know, we did not budget to print a neighborhood directory this year.  The print version was outdated before we got it delivered, but the online listing is updated regularly with new resident information.  You can find the directory here (password: LakeV2017):

We are again looking for 3-4 volunteers to serve on the annual Audit Committee.  The audit of the 2017 Lakeview books will take place around the first week of March and is a one-time, 2-hour time commitment.  Contact Nancy Austin if you are interested in serving (847-254-6839, or reply to this email.

We have very cold temps right now and through the weekend!  Brrr!  Please remind everyone in your household to STAY OFF THE ICE at the lake!  Thank you!

Here's to another great year in Lakeview!
Board of Directors

On the question of whether to increase annual dues by $90 to $615.00, the answer was a resounding yes!  With 97 households voting, the final count including proxies was 71 yes and 26 no.  The majority was 73% of total votes cast.  The proposition needed 60% to approve.  Thanks to all who voted to support our neighborhood!
